The UK’s biggest hair and beauty salon group announces its salon teams and customers have raised over £50,000 to kick-start year two of its charity partnership fighting women’s cancers with the Eve Appeal. This puts the totaliser right on target to achieve £100,000 in the next twelve months.

At the heart of everything at Saks is the desire to make women look and feel special; for them to leave salons more confident and inspired. Fighting women’s cancers is a cause that resonates with all women, young and old and supporting The Eve Appeal is taking the brand’s ethos to a new level… showing that Saks truly is a special community of women.

Currently 55 women are diagnosed with one of the five gynaecological cancers every day in the UK. It’s a tough topic to bring up in conversation, but unfortunately that means these cancers are rarely discussed and too-little known about.

To launch year two the Saks UK team and Andrea Currah, (owner of Saks Hexham, top fundraising salon 2015) attended the Make Time For Tea launch party at the House of Commons hosted by Sharon Hodgson, Shadow Children’s Minster and Chair of the APPG on Ovarian Cancer.

Saks caught-up with Sharon and team-Eve and chatted about Saks4Eve to fellow supporters including top beauty blogger Caroline Hirons, actress Helen Lederer, and journalist and TV presenter Richard Arnold … all of whom were super-impressed with Saks4Eve fundraising.

Throughout March Saks salons served tea, coffee and fizz, along with cakes and nibbles plus raffles of hair and beauty goodies from key suppliers whilst chatting about the cause and handing out informational leaflets. All with great hair and beauty, in the best company… what’s not to like?

Athena Lamnisos, CEO of The Eve Appeal, says: “Our partnership with SAKS UK has been the most fantastic way to reach a new audience with The Eve Appeal and raise awareness of women’s cancers. Saks4Eve is a partnership full of energy, ideas and inspiration. Saks salons have been SO enthusiastic in their awareness and fundraising. We’ve just passed the half way point in our two-year partnership and so far they have raised just over £50,000. Just fabulous. We’re looking forward to an equally successful second year of this high-energy partnership which is making a difference protecting women from gynaecological cancers.”

Stephen Kee, Managing Director at Saks, concludes: “The way our people are embracing our partnership has totally exceeded our expectations. We’re showing exactly how much we care about women by supporting the fight against gynaecological cancers. This cause resonates with all women, young and old and the time and effort our salon teams are putting into our partnership is really making a difference. We do special every day and we’re making it extra-special in 2016. Watch this space.”
